Hampden Park has won the prestigious Matchday Hospitality Experience 2017 Award at a glittering ceremony held at the new main stand of Anfield, home of Liverpool FC, on 1 June.
Specialist events and hospitality teams from football and rugby stadia across the country celebrated their ‘off the pitch’ successes at The Stadium Events & Hospitality Awards 2017.
Hampden, Scotland’s National Stadium, in partnership with their contracted catering partner Sodexo, fought off strong competition from a record 36 participating stadia across the UK to scoop the Overall Matchday Hospitality Experience award.
The award comes after a Salon Culinaire judge visited the stadium in April to review Hampden’s matchday experience. In addition to catering, service delivery and cleanliness, the judge looked at the new Skybox facilities that have been constructed across the South Stand as part of the work undertaken to prepare the stadium as one of the host venues for UEFA EURO 2020.
”We are absolutely delighted to have won such a prestigious award in partnership with our long established catering partner Sodexo,” said Peter Dallas, Hampden Park Ltd. Managing Director.
“We are particularly pleased the investment in our vibrant new Skybox concept has been recognised so quickly and received such positive reviews from our visitors. Hampden’s renowned warm welcome has clearly made an impression, which is testimony to every member of our staff involved on the day.”
“To be recognised nationally and beat such stiff competition from stadia across the UK is a huge honour,” said Craig Younger, Sodexo General Manager at Hampden.
“I’m extremely proud of the Sodexo team, who work hard day in, day out to deliver top customer service, provide first class food & drink and ensure all of our guests – whether with us for a match-day, meeting, conference or other event – have a truly memorable experience.
“As Scotland’s National Stadium, Hampden Park has incredible history and we’re delighted to be a part of that. The stadium has recently undergone an impressive refurbishment, which will only enhance the experience we can provide. Our new events and hospitality spaces are already generating a buzz locally and beyond.”
