A partnership between North Lanarkshire Mosque and Holytown Colts in the Central region has been instrumental in the understanding of cultural awareness, as well as grassroots community club practices.

The culture awareness workshop is a tool that has been developed by the Diversity and Inclusion team to help offer and understanding to groups and grassroots clubs looking to engage with the ethnic minority communities that exist throughout Scotland. At the moment this is being delivered via the UEFA Captains of Change project, which the Diversity and Inclusion team have been involved in for the past 6 months.

The workshop was delivered with both groups participating in an open environment, which allowed for better understanding of the different cultures that exist within the community. A coach education workshop involving volunteers from both groups and the club has also been delivered, this will enable the sharing of best practice between the club and the Mosque and hopefully volunteers from the Mosque may also get the opportunity to further develop their coaching skills by volunteering their time at the club which will further develop integrated action for the future.
