Technical ability is a vital element of playing good football.

The Scottish FA North region has set up a comprehensive skills based course to support and educate local coaches who can then help to improve the standard of our grassroots players.

The course detailed below is practical in nature and candidates are encouraged to take part, regardless of ability.

Initial Presentation Night

Date: Wednesday 4 July
Time: 7pm to 9pm

Practical Sessions
Venue: Lawsondale Playing Fields, Westhill
Dates: Wednesday 1, Saturday 4, Wednesday 8 & Saturday 11 August
Times: 6pm to 9pm (Wed) & 10am to 4pm (Sat)

The main content of the skill based programme is to address the four 1v1 situations which arise continually in every game.

Coaches will also learn to focus on where and when the moves and turns can be successfully be executed.

In modern day football with its extremely fast pace, tight spaces and evenly matched teams, the importance of 1v1 play cannot be overstated.

Players who can dominate the 1v1 situation can make a difference to any game at any time.

Four 1v1 Situations - where it begins to make a difference;
1. 1v1 Side by Side - Change of direction moves
2. 1v1 Face to Face - Moves to beat an opponent
3. 1v1 Diagonal Attack - Cuts and drag backs
4. 1v1 Back to Goal - Spins and turns

All the above situations will be comprehensively covered and explained step by step, where and when to execute specific moves will also be continually reinforced.

All coaches will be supported with a series of handouts throughout the duration of the course.

Places on this programme are limited and if you would like to be involved please email with your contact details including name, email address, club/school you are involved with and coaching position you currently hold.
