Musselburgh Youngsters can now call themselves the friendliest team in East Lothian, after winning the East Lothian Soccer Development Association's Fair Play Cup.

The young players from Dunbar United Colts, Haddington Athletic, Musselburgh Youngsters and North Berwick Colts all demonstrated their positive attitude to our national game at the finals day at Aberfeldy FC.

Organiser, Gordon Nicol, said: "Over the last few months we in this association have piloted a Fair Play Cup competition within the U10s division. Each team within the U10s was asked to score their opposition players, coaches and parents out of ten based on behaviour and sense of fair play.

"The culmination of this pilot was the Fair Play Cup Finals at Aberlady FC. Teams from Dunbar United Colts, Haddington Athletic, Musselburgh Youngstars and North Berwick Colts were invited to take part in the finals after being marked as the friendliest teams across the division.

"The four finalists average score was above 8.2 out of 10, with every team in the division scoring above 7.0 out of 10. Each team attending this event was asked who they thought should win the Fair Play Cup and the ELSSDA Fair Play Cup went to Musselburgh Youngsters. In addition, every player taking part received a memento of the day.”
