Kilmarnock FC Give Street Footballers A Chance To Shine!
Kilmarnock Football Clubs ‘StreetSport Icon’ gave young footballers the chance to win a weeks professional football experience with Killie. Nearly 1000 10-18 year olds competed over the summer to become ‘Icons’ and train alongside the ‘Pride of Ayrshire’.
StreetSport Icon, a partnership between East Ayrshire Council’s Leisure Development Section, Kilmarnock Football Club and The Scottish FA Cashback for Communities is in its third year, seeks to find a Street Footballer with the skill and ability to make it at the highest level and the competition for the places this year was fiercer than ever! The 14 eventual winners (names below) enjoyed a professional football experience including double training sessions taken by Paul McDonald & Alan Mahood, full training kit & lunch with Kilmarnock first team players. The Kilmarnock players also found time from their busy training schedule to play five-a-sides with the winners giving the boys some memories that they will never forget.
The 14 winners were:- Ewan Farrell, Ross Thompson, Craig Rydon, Ethan Tasker, David Jamieson, Steven Easton, Arron Watters, Regan Ross, Jackson Sivewright, Connor Smith, Jordan Doolan, Callum McAughtrie, Ross Millar & Mark Easton.
