International Women’s Day will see footballers from Scotland and England take part in a live Google+ Hangout hosted by Women in Football in association with Vauxhall, the lead sponsor of Home Nations Football.
On Sunday March 8 Scotland’s Kim Little and Leanne Ross and England’s Eni Aluko and Lianne Sanderson will be participating in a live Google+ Hangout hosted on Vauxhall’s Football YouTube channel.
The players will be talking live at 12.15pm from their training bases in Cyprus as they compete in the Cyprus Women’s Cup.
Scotland’s Kim Little, said: “It's brilliant that despite being away representing my country, I can still participate in this Google+ hangout on an important day for women around the world.
“Football has given myself, Leanne, and our Scotland team mates some fantastic opportunities, and by sharing our experiences we hope to inspire a new generation of young players. Women’s football is growing all the time, and this is an exciting way to talk about the game we all love.”
Football agent Dentaa Amoateng and Julia Pendry, Head of Security and Operations at Wembley National Stadium will be offering their opinion on the latest topics in women’s football and the wider sporting community.
Jo Tongue, of Women in Football, a network of professional women working in and around the football industry will be hosting the live event from Wembley.
Jo said: “As a champion of women working in football I cannot wait to host the Google+ Hangout, International Women’s Day is a big day for women around the globe and for many football plays a huge part in their life. It’s important we discuss topics in the game from a women’s perspective and showcase inspirational women working in the industry.”
Cheryl Stibbs, Vauxhall’s Sponsorship Marketing Manager said:
“This is such a huge year for women’s football and to be able to bring together these talented women in football on International Women’s day is fantastic.
“Women’s football is growing exponentially and we are very excited about the next few years as lead sponsors of all the Home Nations.”
