The Scottish FA’s 2020 Development Centre in Clackmannanshire is gearing up for a new intake of players.
The Association has established a network of these centres across the country to provide players in primary five, six and seven the opportunity to begin their journey through the association’s performance pathway.
The Scottish FA’s strategic plan, Scotland United: A 2020 Vision, includes a performance strategy to nurture the country’s best players and establish a clear pathway into the Scotland National Teams. The 2020 Development Centres are a crucial first step on this pathway.
The centre in Clackmannanshire has been running since October on a Tuesday at Lornshill from 4.15 pm - 5.45 pm and features 14 local players.
Scottish football development officer Graeme Henderson said: "This is a terrific programme which offers the most promising young players in our area the opportunity to participate in additional training and hopefully continue to improve.
“The training is focused on individual player improvement with weekly content including micro sessions and 1 v 1 situations and I can already see improvements taking place in all of the players within the programme due to their fantastic effort.
“Very shortly we will begin to look at bringing in new participants for next year’s centre who I'm sure will also benefit from this programme."
