Jeff Flitcroft, Development Centre and Elite Centre coach at Manchester United FC was the guest coach at the North Region’s second Regional Coach Development Day.
The event was attended by 130 coaches over last Friday evening in Dingwall and all day Saturday in Aberdeen.
The weekend's activites took place at two first class facilities - Friday’s event was delivered at the Highland Football Academy in Dingwall, whilst Aberdeen Sports Village hosted Saturday's event.
Jeff delivered sessions on “dominating the 1v1 scenario” with Under 9 players from Ross County FC, Dingwall Boys Club and the Aberdeen FC Advanced Centre, which includes players from a host of Aberdeen & District Juvenile FC clubs.
Mark McNally, the Scottish FA’s Technical Development Officer, worked with the North Regional Under 13 boys Regional Squad delivering a session on passing/possession and recognising when to play the forward pass.
Both guest coaches also took part in a Q&A session, which gave an insight into the ethos of Manchester United FC coaching, and explained how the Scottish FA plan to progress with national programmes including Developmental 4v4’s.
Derek Brown of Kemnay FC said: “It was an excellent day, professionally run in an excellent facility. The sessions that Jeff and Mark delivered were first class and there was plenty to take away from the day that we could use with our own players and squads”.
Graeme Sutherland, Scottish FA North Regional Manager, said: “It was fantastic to have a coach with Jeff’s knowledge and experience here in the North”.
“It was good to see such a cross section of coaches and volunteers from the grassroots game, semi professional and professional game attend the events.
"We received some excellent feedback on all the sessions delivered. I am sure those in attendance will pspread the word and these events will continue to attract coaches from across the North football community”.
