Derby County and Scotland striker Chris Martin is hoping to build on his first international goal tomorrow night against Denmark at Hampden Park.
Martin scored his first Scotland goal in October’s 6-0 victory over Gibraltar in Faro and the forward, will be looking to impress Gordon Strachan ahead of the start of Scotland’s 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign, which begins in September.
Speaking to Derby County’s website, he said: “I’m looking forward to it – we face Denmark at Hampden Park and it will be great, if I get the chance, to pull the jersey back on and get some minutes under my belt.
"Trying to show the manager that we should be in his plans is going to be in the mind of every single player there over the next week or so.
“We are looking towards the World Cup qualifying campaign now and this is a time for the manager to experiment with his squad and team selection.
The Derby County has scored 13 goals in the English Championship this season with the Rams, and with Gordon selecting two different squads for the March double-header Martin knows that the Scotland National Team Coach will be casting an eye over the all the players at his disposal.
Martin explained: “Gordon will be looking to see what we bring to the table and that’s what he will see with the two different squads.
“Hopefully I can go and impress him, build on my first goal, and we will move on from there.”
