Scotland Under-21s face Czech Republic on Monday in the second fixture of their European Qualifying double-header.

After being held to a goalless draw with Lithuania, Scot Gemmill’s youngsters could extend their unbeaten start to the group to four matches.

The Scots currently sit second in Group 4, level on points with table-toppers Greece and three points ahead of the third-placed Czech’s.

Pre-match thoughts

Head coach Scot Gemmill believes his players can learn from their draw against Lithuania at Tynecastle.

The Under-21s boss saw a lot of positives during the goalless draw and is confident in his players ahead of Monday’s clash in Czech Republic.

He said: “Our draw against Lithuania showed us plenty of positives but also some things we can learn from. We kept the ball well, we posed a threat throughout the 90 minutes but we were met by an extremely organised unit.

“Overall I was pleased with the players application, on another night we take the chances we created.”

He added: “Against Czech Republic it is another opportunity for the players. We have worked hard as a group this week and yet again we get to give our young players experience they don’t get at club level.”
