UEFA European Under-17 Championship Elite Round
Scotland 1-0 Serbia
Sunday, 19 March 2017, kick-off 3pm
Paisley 2021 Stadium, Paisley
Middleton 23
Scotland took another step forward in their bid to reach this year’s UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals with a 1-0 win over Serbia at the Paisley 2021 Stadium this afternoon.
Glenn Middleton’s first-half strike ensured all three points for Scot Gemmill’s side who now require just a point to guarantee their place at the finals in Croatia in May.
Norwich City forward Middleton picked up a pass from Celtic’s Kerr McInroy before arrowing a left-footed shot beyond the Serbian goalkeeper from the edge of the penalty area.
Despite a late push from Serbia, the young Scots held on for another victory which sees them top their qualifying group on six points following on from their impressive 6-1 win over Montenegro on Friday night.
Scotland face Switzerland at the Paisley 2021 Stadium in their final group match on Wednesday afternoon, kick-off 5pm, as they seek the result that will seal a fourth successive under-17 finals.
Entry to the match is FREE and you can also watch the match live on the Scotland National Team Facebook, YouTube and the Scottish FA Twitter feed.
