The 16-year-old from Bathgate, West Lothian, is through to the final 40, and will join young players from all over the UK and Republic of Ireland at the England National Team’s training ground in Watford.
If Nathan gets through to the final 10, he will head to Milan for a five week trial, with the possibility of a one-season professional contract with Jose Mourinho’s Inter Milan as the final prize.
Nathan was selected after impressing at trials in Glasgow, before the show’s crew, including former Liverpool star Jamie Redknapp, headed to Blackburn to film Nathan with his team mates and coach Brian Smillie.
Nathan is, understandably, stunned and excited to make it through to the final 40. He said: "It was quite a shock, although I think I played well enough to get spotted. And Jamie was a really nice guy, I had a good chat with him and he gives you a lot of confidence.”
Football’s Next Star was open to all 16-18 year olds in Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Nathan and the other young players who made the grade at trials around the country now go on to a two-day boot camp in Watford.
The final 10 will go through five weeks of intensive training at Inter Milan's Youth Academy, where Jose Mourinho and his coaches will pick the player who they think deserves a contract with the club.
