The Moray and Banff Scottish FA Referees Association plan to run a training course in Elgin for budding referees.

The programme is due to start on Thursday October 28th and run for six consecutive Thursday evenings until early December.

The course will be held at Borough Briggs, Elgin from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The cost is £15, however a £5 discount will be available if you mention when booking that you saw this advertised via our website.

The Association is looking for new recruits who could range from parents wishing to ensure children's football on a Saturday morning is not scrapped due to a lack of officials, to supporters, former players, and ambitious youngsters who aim to emulate some of the Moray and Banff Association's current referees and officiate at the very top of the world game.

After the six-week course, a written exam is taken which resembles an actual match, followed by an oral exam where the subject views footage of match incidents and gives their own course of action.

Finally, the budding officials will referee two games at under-10s or under-12s level where they will be accompanied by senior officials from the association and offered advice and feedback on their performances.
