Moray Council’s Sports Development section have organised for a Level 2 Community Sports Leadership Course to be delivered at Milne’s High School in Fochabers during the Summer Holidays. The course will be delivered on Monday 3rd, Wednesday 5th, Thursday 13th and Friday 14th August from 9am to 4pm daily.

The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership is a nationally recognised qualification that enables successful candidates to independently lead small groups of people in sport and recreational activities. The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance or final examinations to sit. Candidates must be 16 years of age to attend the course and to successfully complete the course; candidates must attend, or have attended within the last three years, a first aid course. The cost to attend this course is £40 which includes log book, certificate, badge and a year’s public liability insurance.
The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership consists of eight units of work; contribute to organising and delivering a sports session, establish and maintain a safe sporting activity, understanding the structure of sport and recreation at local, regional and national level, understand and lead fitness sessions, demonstrate principles and practice in running sports events and competition, demonstrate principles and practice in adapting sports activities, plan a series of appropriate activities and finally demonstrate leadership skills in the community. Over and above this 4 day course, candidates will have to complete a minimum of 10 hours of voluntary leadership experience.
