Tartan Army Children’s Charity in South Africa
Carey and Jamie of TACC have travelled to South Africa to donate £60,000 raised by the Tartan Army for two fantastic children’s charities in the Country. The Let Us Grow Project in Orange Farm and Umthombo Street Children in Durban support severely disadvantaged kids through a wide range of services including provision of healthcare, food parcels, counselling and shelter. Follow Carey’s blog to see the real impact you, as Scotland’s supporters, have made to the lives of these children.
It’s really simple to help the Tartan Army Children’s Charity raise funds for amazing projects such as this and those which they run in Scotland. You can sign up now for their monthly lottery and be in with the chance of winning some brilliant prizes. This month’s cash prize is already more than £700, not to mention that there’s a trip to Prague to watch Scotland play Czech Republic in October up for grabs. This includes direct flights from Scotland and 2 nights’ accommodation with Passport Travel, and a match ticket courtesy of the Scottish FA.
Alzheimer Scotland – Football Reminiscence Project
Alzheimer Scotland, also a Scottish FA nominated charity, is appealing for some help from the Tartan Army too, but in a different way. They need supporters who are willing to give up some of their spare time to help fellow football fans who are suffering from dementia.
A recent pilot into their innovative new project found that using football as a trigger, many sufferers showed improvement in memory, confidence and general well-being.
