Erskine YFC have created a new girls section at the club after a successful project with the Scottish FA.
In March 2013, partnership working between the Scottish FA, Active Renfrewshire, McDonald's and Erskine YFC delivered a school programme involving girls' football. The link-up has led to the creation of the new section at Erskine YFC.
The club now have 25 girls attending on a weekly basis with two under-9 teams playing in 4v4 match day activity on a Saturday morning.
Corrie Campbell, Scottish FA Girls' and Women's Club Development Officer, said she was delighted with the progress of the girls' section in such a short time.
She added: “Erskine YFC have been so enthusiastic about creating opportunities for girls to play at the club.
“The club have created an environment where girls can play with other girls.
“Through the McDonald's funding they have managed to deliver school sessions, complete a Positive Coaching Scotland workshop and coach education for parents and recruited four parents to be volunteer coaches. “
Hugh Morrell, Club Vice Chairman, is keen to create under-11s and under-13s teams in the near future.
