The Scottish FA are delighted to confirm that Nick Walsh has been promoted to the Elite Category of UEFA Referees. With only 35 referees across Europe included in this group, he will have the opportunity to referee at the very highest level of the game on an international stage.
Nick joins Craig Thomson and current Head of Refereeing, Willie Collum, as the only Scottish referees to have been selected for this category in recent times.
Nick is already a regular official at UEFA level, having this season refereed a UEFA Conference League qualifier between Shakhtar Donetsk and Servette, UEFA Europa League ties between Stuttgart and Celta Vigo, Malmo and Panathinaikos before taking on UEFA Champions League group stage matches between Copenhagen and Kairat Almaty as well Bayern Munich against Sporting Clube de Portugal in the last month.
Nick also took charge of Türkiye's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bulgaria in November.
Head of Refereeing at the Scottish FA, Willie Collum had this to say;
"This is a commendation from the highest level of European Refereeing for Nick Walsh. Nick has been one of the top referees in Scotland over a number of years, having refereed at all levels of European Competition, including a very successful U21 Euro in the summer. This promotion is testament to Nick's qualities - hard work, application, dedication, professionalism and of course his talent as a referee."
"We are delighted not only for Nick, but that Scotland and our referees are represented at the very top of the game. This is a proud moment for us."
