Nominations for 2015 Scottish FA Grassroots Awards, presented by McDonald’s, now open here
The 2015 Scottish FA Grassroots Awards, presented by McDonald’s and the Sunday Mail, has today opened for nominations and Scottish football legend and McDonald’s Head of Scottish Football, Kenny Dalglish, is calling for communities to nominate a local grassroots hero for this year’s awards.
Now in their 12th year, the awards recognise and celebrate the dedicated grassroots clubs and volunteers across the six Scottish FA Regions, who spend countless hours of their free time providing grassroots football opportunities to the local community.
McDonald’s Head of Scottish Football, Kenny Dalglish said: “Grassroots volunteers and the clubs in which they operate play a crucial role in bringing communities together across Scotland on a weekly basis. They dedicate their free time to ensure that young footballers have an opportunity to enjoy the game that we know and love. From my perspective they are priceless and without them football simply wouldn’t exist in the way we know.
“Through my involvement in the McDonald’s and Scottish FA Community Awards programme I have spent the last 12 years meeting volunteers and clubs up and down the entire country. The stories that they share and the work they put into football never ceases to amaze me. It is so important that we recognise these people, not because they ask for the recognition but because they deserve it. The awards provide us with a fantastic opportunity to say ‘thank you’ and no one is worthy of it more than these clubs and volunteers.”
