The Scottish FA’s North Region annual coaching conference is taking place at Aberdeen Sports Village on June 8 between 10am and 4pm.

The conference is aimed at coaches working at all levels of football, and will include a variety of practical sessions as well as a discussion forum. The conference has been designated as a continuous professional development (CPD) event for coaches who attend.

This year the guest coaches will be Charlie Jackson (Matrix Soccer Academy) and Neil MacKintosh (Scottish FA Performance Manager).

Charlie is an experienced football coach, having worked for several clubs including Manchester United FC as a Skills Development Coach for over seven years and Blackburn Rovers as their Advanced Technical Skills Development Coach.

Charlie is also the joint founder of Matrix Soccer Academy, where he runs coaching sessions for children and training courses for adults.

Applauded by many and driven by passion and belief, Charlie has dedicated much of his life to developing football talent amongst the youth from all around the world.

He is currently employed by Manchester City F.C. as a Development Coach and also as Director of Football at Moorland School.

Neil is The Scottish FA Performance Manager based at Hampden Park, however, his connections with the north and east of Scotland go back a long way. He is a north boy who played and coached in the Highland League whilst being a senior lecturer at Moray College in Elgin.

He moved to Ross County FC as the Head of Youth Development and helped to create a very successful Academy structure, before joining the Scottish FA as one of the original six Regional Managers with a remit for the North of Scotland.

As a Holder of the UEFA Pro Licence, Neil then moved onto the post of the Head of Youth Development for the Scottish FA where he worked closely with colleagues to design and deliver the Youth Licence and Children’s Licence Coach Education courses and was also one of the architects of the national Player Pathway.

Latterly, Neil moved to the new Performance Department working closely with Mark Wotte to deliver the Performance School programme and youth national squads.

Scottish FA North Regional Manager Graeme Sutherland said: “It is great that we have secured the services of two high profile coaches to deliver sessions in the North.

“This is an excellent opportunity for local coaches to widen their knowledge and hopefully gain some ideas from our guest coaches.

“The conference is an integral part of the region's coach development programme and I am sure this will be as popular as our recent local events have been.”
