The Scottish FA are delighted to host the fifth Scottish FA North Region Coaching Conference from Aberdeen Sports Village, Aberdeen.

Date: Saturday 9th June 2012

Venue: Aberdeen Sports Village

Time: 10.00am – 4pm

Cost: £10 (£5 for Quality Mark Clubs)

The conference is aimed at coaches working at all levels of football, and will include a variety of practical sessions as well as a discussion forum. The conference has been designated as a continuous professional development (CPD) event for coaches who attend.

This year the guest coaches will be Aaron Danks (West Bromwich Albion FC) and  Steve Cooper (Liverpool FC).

Aaron Danks is currently U12 –U16 Academy Manager at West Bromwich Albion FC.

Aaron, who holds the UEFA A Licence, is responsible for the technical and tactical teaching of the game to the players in the u12-u16 age groups as well as the organisation of training and games programmes.

He also works on a weekly basis with the players in the U8-U11s and the U17-U21s departments in the Academy.

He started his coaching career at Birmingham FC where he was both an Academy coach and development officer before moving to the West Brom Academy.

There he took up the role of looking after the U12 –U13’s working to the club’s technical programme. He then moved became Head of Academy Analysis at the club a role he held for two years before his current position.

Steve Cooper is currently Academy Manager of Liverpool FC following a highly successful spell as head of U12-U16.

Steve was one of the youngest coaches in Europe to obtain his UEFA Pro Licence and also holds an FA Academy Managers Licence.

The Welshman earned his coaching spurs at Wrexham where he had a four year stint as a player before joining the backroom staff at the Racecourse Ground.

Cooper enjoyed great success as Head of Youth with the Red Dragons and led them to victory in the U18 Youth Alliance, prior to his move to Liverpool in October 2008.

He has continued to progress throughout the Kirkby ranks and after assisting Pep Segura as the reserve team's temporary coach at the end of the 2010-11 campaign, he then became Academy Manager.

Scottish FA North regional manager Graeme Sutherland said: “It is great that we have secured the services of two high profile coaches to deliver sessions in the North. This is an excellent opportunity for local coaches to widen their knowledge and hopefully gain some ideas from our guest coaches”.

“The conference is an integral part of the region's coach development programme and I am sure this will be as popular as our recent local events have been.”
