Friday 9th May 2014 saw Clackmannanshire Council's Midnight League programme receive a special visit from MP of South Perthshire and Ochil's Gordon Banks and Bank of Scotland representative Ross McGrouther.
The Midnight League programme has ran for over ten years within Clackmannanshire and is now currently on Friday evenings from 9-11pm at Recreation Park, home to Alloa Athletic. The success of this programme is demonstrated week in week out with anything between 40-80 youths from the local areas playing in this free 5-a-side football initiative.
Both visitors were impressed with the programme which saw 48 participants on the evening taking part in matches and being physically active during the late Friday evening. Mr Banks was also delighted to hear the news that a number of coaches on the evening were once players in the Midnight League programme, two in particular have now started a Modern Apprenticeship with Clackmannanshire Council Sports Development.
