Jeanfield Swifts Girls Football Club (JSGFC) are celebrating winning a national competition for new kit.

The Host Your Kit competition - run by iomart Hosting and Greaves Sports - searched for worthwhile clubs to award the hamper of quality gear.

Summing up the Perth club's entry, a judge on the panel explained: "“Jeanfield Swifts Girls Football Club is a credit to Scottish Football.

"We were impressed by the coaches’ commitment to encouraging girls to play football and the dedication shown by the young players.

"The team has clearly helped foster an incredible community spirit in an area where life is not always easy. The video that accompanied the entry explained in a fun and engaging way why the team would benefit from having a new kit.

"We believe Jeanfield Swifts Girls deserve a new football kit."

Responding to the news, JSGFC coach Donna Shaw said: "We are super excited about this, it is good to be recognised for all the hard work being done by everyone at the club."

The Scottish FA's girls' and women's football development officer in the east of the country Sam Milne, who works closely with the Fair City club, said: "Well done to Jeanfield GFC on winning their bid for a new set of strips.

"Their video was great to watch and really captures the enjoyment and passion that football give these young girls.

"Donna Shaw and Laura Barnett have been working hard with Jeanfield GFC to maintain the high standards at their club through a great new coaching programme and by giving the girls a great structure to their club football.

"Winning these strips will be a nice reward for their hard work. "
