The Scottish Futsal Finals take place next weekend at the Bell’s Sports Centre in Perth, with the five regional league winners battling out to become Scottish champions.
Not only is the newly-commissioned National League Championship trophy is up for grabs, but the victors will be Scotland’s representative in the UEFA Futsal Cup, Europe’s elite club futsal tournament.
The Finals in Perth are the culmination of Scotland’s five regional championships in Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Stirling and Edinburgh, where futsal has grown thanks to the hard work of players, officials and supporters in the futsal community.
Mark Potter, Chairman of the Scottish Futsal League, said: “The competition is sure to be of a high level, with every side coming through tough regional qualifying Leagues to make it to the Finals. Each League has been well supported by a number of volunteer staff, both from the Scottish FA, Scottish Futsal and from the Futsal community.”
Stewart Regan, the Chief Executive of the Scottish FA, said: “The introduction of Regional Futsal leagues has been a very positive step with more than 500 players now involved in regular activity. I hope that with the support of our Regional staff we will see continued growth and the launch of new leagues throughout Scotland in the near future.
"The winners of this particular event will represent Scotland within the UEFA Futsal Cup competition, Futsal’s equivalent of the Champions League, and I wish all who are involved over the weekend the very best of luck as they strive to become Futsal Champions of Scotland”
The five teams in this year’s Finals are:
Perth – FC Santos
Aberdeen - Five Cities Futsal Club
Edinburgh – Wattcell Futsal Club
Dundee – FC Polonia
