The 2020 Development Centres are a crucial first step on the Scottish FA's Performance Pathway, widening the pool of talented male and female players at the base of the Performance Pyramid.

The programme is designed to be aspirational and to help players in primary five, six and seven to achieve their full potential whilst creating a link between the grassroots game and elite performance. ??Along with professional clubs, players are selected from across the non-professional game to take part in weekly specialised sessions.

Last week players from the 2020 Development Centre from LK Galaxy in Grangemouth swapped their weekly training session for a classroom based evening on Diet and Nutrition.  The workshop was held at Graeme High School and the S1 performance school players also attended along with parents to listen to advice on the correct foods to be eating and the important of fluid intake.

Guest speaker for the night was Pam Pall who is a qualified nutritionist within the NHS while working with Celtic and Kilmarnock first team squads.  In addition to this Pam works with the newly created Fife Academy and also within other sports including the Commonwealth Paralympic team.

With this subject being such an important area within the game now, hopefully the advice on the night will give the young players every chance of performing at their highest level.
