Meggetland Sports Complex was the venue for the Scottish FA South East Region’s annual Pre Season Training Workshop, with over 45 coaches from clubs across the region coming together to view the session and presentation being delivered by Dougie Anderson. "A good pre-season is vital if teams want to get off to a good start in the season ahead. We believe we have developed a resource that allows players to get match fit whilst using the ball, something that players prefer".
John Brock, Currie Star Coach Co-ordinator and ESSDA Football 4's co-ordinator was in attendance at the workshop and took part in some of the sessions. He said "The sessions are fantastic. Because the ball is involved, you don't realise just how hard you are working throughout the exercises. Some of the lads were wearing heart rate monitors and were giving us readings at different intervals throughout the evening which was demonstrating just how hard they were working. I would recommend any coach to use this resource".
Sessions can be viewed in our Football Development section of the website or by clicking below.
Our thanks go to everyone who attended including Heriot Watt 19's who took part in the sessions.
David Drummond, Regional Manager for the South East also commented on the workshop. "Feedback from everyone who was at the workshop has been extremely positive. They could all see the benefit of using the ball to keep the interest of the players whilst still increasing fitness levels, meaning players will be well prepared for the season ahead. Our thanks go to Dougie Anderson for working so hard on developing this resource over the last few years".
