Tonight sees the second leg of the Highland v Lowland League play-off take place at Ainslie Park in Edinburgh, with The Spartans facing an uphill task of overturning a 4-0 deficit from the first leg.
Cove Rangers put in an impressive first-leg performance at Hawlaw Park, as they won 4-0 – thanks to goals from Mitch Megginson and Eric Watson plus a Paul McManus double. Megginson’s strike was notable for being his 50th goal of the season for Cove.

The winners of the play-off will progress to face Cowedenbeath, who finished bottom of League Two in the SPFL; the winner of that two-legged tie will either gain or retain a place in League Two. Those matches will take place on Saturday, 5 May and Saturday, 12 May 2018.
The Spartans, if they can pull-off a sensational comeback, will be looking to follow their fellow Captial side, Edinburgh City who, after winning the Highland v Lowland League play-off in 2016, won promotion to the SPFL with a 1-0 win over East Stirlingshire.
Last season saw East Kilbride emerge victorious over Buckie Thistle over the two legs of the play-offs.
