A total of 184 primary four youngsters enjoyed some football coaching at the recent Fun 4's football tournament at the Pickaquoy Centre in Kirkwall.
The event followed on from the success of a coaching programme run in Orkney schools by Orkney Islands Councils Active schools team. Pupils from Shapinsay, St. Andrews, Dounby, Evie, St. Margaret's Hope, Sanday, Stromness, and Papdale and Glaitness Primary Schools all took part in the unique four-a- side sport. The game is designed to be played in small areas, and is aimed at helping youngsters build an interest in sports, as well as increasing confidence. Highland Football Academy's Rod Houston and Peter Budge from the Scottish Football Association were in Orkney recently to promote Fun 4s.
Peter said: "It was great to see so many schools being represented at the Fun 4's football festival, and to see so many girls and boys enjoying the coaching and games".
