UEFA Under-21 Championship Qualifying

Liv Bona Dea Arena, Baku

Scotland Men's Under-21 Head Coach Scot Gemmill has today named a squad of 24 as his side prepare to begin their latest UEFA Under-21 European Championship qualifying campaign later this month.

Scotland host Gibraltar at Dens Park, Dundee on Thursday, 9 October before travelling to face Azerbaijan five days later at the Liv Bona Dea Arena in Baku. Tickets for the Gibraltar match can be purchased here, with Under-16s and Scotland Supporters Club (SSC) members going free.

After defeat on the road in Czechia, a creditable performance in defeat against a high-powered Portugal side will see the side approach both ties with optimism.

With a number of recent graduates from the Under-21 side to the full international setup including Ben Gannon-Doak, Kieron Bowie, Lennon Miller, Max Johnston and Josh Doig, there are opportunities for a new generation to stake a claim in the coming games.

Kyle Ure makes the step up to the Under-21 set-up for the first time after an impressive start to the season as he has secured a spot in midfield on loan from Celtic in Scott Brown’s Ayr United title-chasing Championship side.

He is joined by a former Celtic youth teammate in Lenny Agbaire, who makes his return to the international set-up for the first time since March in search of his second cap.

Hibernian youngster Rudi Molotnikov will be looking to add to his Under-19 and Under-17 appearances as he makes the step into the Under-21 squad after recovering from an early season injury.

Matthew Anderson will be looking to bring his impressive league form for Kortrijk, undefeated in the league Challenger Pro League in Belgium so far this season, proving five assists so far from left-back.
