October marks Black History Month and Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC)’s Month of Action across Scotland and the United Kingdom.
The Scottish FA are committed to working with SRtRC to rid racism from football in Scotland. During the recent World Cup qualification double header, which yielded victories against Greece and Belarus, the Scotland squad showed their support to the campaign to tackle racism in football and across society.
Working together, the Scottish FA and Show Racism the Red Card have developed a range of bespoke education courses to tackle racism in Scotland’s national game.
The Scottish FA also recently supported SRtRC’s annual Anti-Racist Creative Competition in partnership with Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), encouraging schools across the country to think about what anti-racism means to them and to produce artwork that expresses the views of young people.
Over 3,100 entries were submitted and the overall category winners of the awards from across Scotland will help the Men’s National Team in upcoming fixtures as flag bearers in the pre-match ceremony.
From the boardroom to the pitch, in our stadiums and on the touchlines of our grassroots pitches, it is the collective responsibility of everyone engaged in football to end discrimination in our game and wider society.
Scotland midfielder Lennon Miller said:“ It’s so important to support the campaign to stop racism in football, because it has no place in our game.
"I’m proud to support Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) in helping educate people on how to tackle racism in Scottish football.”

Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon said: "There’s no place for racism in football and we should all be doing everything we can to eradicate it from our game.
"I think education is the first step, and it’s important that Show Racism the Red Card continue to deliver this kind of education across the game.
"Their vital work plays such a big role as we all look to put an end to racism and discrimination in football for everyone.”
Billy Singh, Campaigns Manager at Show Racism the Red Card Scotland: “We are extremely grateful for the continued support of the Scottish FA and the Scotland National Teams in championing our work. Their commitment shows that tackling racism is a shared responsibility — not just for the football family, but for everyone in Scotland.
"Real change happens when individuals, communities, schools, and workplaces all play their part. Education, understanding, and action are key to building a society where everyone feels valued and respected.
"Football has the power to inspire, but the message must reach beyond the game — together, we can make equality and inclusion the norm.”
