Scotland made one change from there disappointing 6-0 defeat to Spain on Wednesday, with Jodie Mcleary coming in for Aimee Anderson.

As it Happened

Scotland fell to a second straight defeat at Ainslie Park as a first half flurry of goals put the game beyond doubt.

Pauline MacDonald’s side very nearly were awarded from the start with their high press tactics, Scotland gained possession one minute into the first half in the final third, where Hannah Jordan tried her luck from outside the box which Finland keeper Kerrtu Karresmaa did well to parry wide.

Though it was the visitors who broke the deadlock 10 minutes in after some tricky wing play down the left-hand side from Sofia Määttä she was brought down just outside the box.  Up stepped Neela Antikainen who placed her free kick into the top corner sparking delirium from her teammates and coaching staff alike.

Finland doubled their lead just two minutes later, again Määttä was involved, after skipping past two defenders she played the ball into the box where it then fell to an unmarked Tuuli Viinikka who kept her composure placing the ball into the net.

It was almost a carbon copy for the third, this time on the right-hand side as Viinikka ran down the byline before cutting it back to Oona Sevenuis on the edge of the six-yard box as she powered it into the Scotland net.

Any hopes of a second half comeback were quashed when Finland’s Ellie Seiro latched onto a slack back pass from Kenzie Weir to poke the ball past the goalkeeper.

Unfortunately for Scotland, more was to come, as the ball broke loose from a Finland corner, centre half Mya Christie brought the ball down before unleashing a volley beyond the outstretched arms of the Scotland goalkeeper.

Scotland now look ahead to Tuesday, where they host Switzerland.
