2025 UEFA European Under-21 Championship Qualifiers
Spain v Scotland
Monday, 11 September – kick off 8:00pm (UK time)
Estadio Municipal De La Victoria, Jaen

Scotland Under-21s are in Jaen, ready to kick off their EURO 2025 qualifying campaign against Spain on Monday night.

Spain were beaten finalists in this summer's championships and they will present a tough challenge for Scotland at the Estadio Municipal De La Victoria.

Scot Gemmill's side were drawn into Group B for the qualifiers, along with Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Malta and Kazakhstan.

Team News

Gemmill has a full squad to pick from, with no fresh injury concerns following a week-long camp, split between Edinburgh and Jaen.

Azeem Abdulai was forced to pull out of the original squad and he was replaced by Michael Mellon - a first-time call-up at Under-21 level.

Tommy Conway, Lewis Fiorini and Calvin Ramsay are all missing from the squad, but Ben Doak and Max Johnston's returns are welcome, after they missed out in June.

Josh Doig also missed the double header against Norway and he will return to the side as well.

Pre Match Thoughts

Scotland Under-21s midfielder Connor Barron is one of the more experienced players in the squad, having been involved in three matches in the last qualifying campaign.

He believes Scotland will take confidence from results secured against top sides in the past.

He said: "The boys are really confident. We've had some good friendlies over the last couple of months and some warm-up games and the squad is coming together.

"There's a feel-good factor about the group and what a way to start off with a game against Spain.

"I'm one of the older boys now and there's a few of the younger lads who I try to take under the wing and give them a bit of advice if they need it along the way.

"Every time I have come away with the squad there's always been quality and this group is no different.

"Most of us are in and around a first team or playing at a good level. We've really bonded as a group now and it's starting to come together in training.

"I was involved in our game against Belgium last summer when we pulled of a draw against them away from home so the belief is there.

"It's going to be tough but every game we go into we've got to have the feeling that we can win. I think if you don't - there's no point in turning up."
