International friendly
Scotland v Costa Rica
Tuesday, 11 April 2023 (kick-off 7.35pm)
Hampden Park, Glasgow
Scotland are preparing to face Costa Rica for the first time ever tonight as the women's national team return to Hampden for the first time this year.
Fresh from halting Australia's 7-game unbeaten run, Pedro Martinez Losa's side are looking to build on the momentum from the hard earned victory over the FIFA Women's World Cup co-hosts in London last week.
Winger Fiona Brown could earn her 50th cap if selected, joining the half-century club with stand-in captain, Claire Emslie, who will be honoured before the game with a special cap presentation.
Pre-match thoughts:
Brown on potentially reaching that milestone cap: "I'm just incredibly grateful that my body is still allowing me to perform at this level after the injuries that I've faced.
"I'm proud that I kept going when there were times that it felt quite unlikely so it's very special. My first cap was the best moment ever so to have come this far means the world to me.
"There's nothing better than representing your country, for me. There's no better feeling than pulling on that shirt. It's so good to be back at Hampden."
Head coach, Pedro Martinez Losa ahead of the match: "Playing at Hampden means everything to a lot of our players.
"The fans and the atmosphere make a huge difference as you can feel the unity between the support and the players - sometimes it can be the difference.
"We're looking forward to the challenge and we fully respect Costa Rica. They are a team who've qualified for the World Cup and we'll be expecting a lot of counter-attacking football.
"In the modern game, every opponent can cause you difficulties and we'll be prepared for that tomorrow night."
Team news:
All 23 players are available for selection. Following her first call-up, Sarah Ewens returned to her club last week after picking up an injury.
