Georgia v Scotland

The young Scots are preparing to face Israel and Georgia in UEFA Women’s under-17s round two qualifying tournament in Edinburgh this week.
Pauline MacDonald named a squad of twenty last month who will compete at Spartans’ Ainslie Park, beginning with a match against Israel on Thursday, 9 March, before concluding the tournament against Georgia six days later.
In between those two fixtures, Israel and Georgia will face each other on Sunday, 12 March.
Scotland’s preparations for the tournament included a double-header against Greece in February, which resulted in 0-0 and 1-1 draws in Athens.
Head coach, Pauline MacDonald: “It’s a privilege to be leading this talented group into these games and it’s a fantastic opportunity for this squad to show what they are capable of.
“Hosting this tournament for the first time with this age group is giving these players the chance to represent their country in front of their friends, family and club coaches – all of whom are instrumental in supporting and encouraging their development. To have the opportunity to showcase their growth on the international stage, on home turf, is a very proud moment for all of us.
“From a coaching perspective, it’s imperative that we aim to finish top of this group. Achieving that would facilitate the opportunity for us to compete in the ‘A’ category and those are the games that will help our best young players become even better.”
These qualifiers will be streamed live on Scotland NT accounts along with key in-match updates.
