A challenging trip to Poland for Round 1 of UEFA Under-17 Women's European Championship qualifying still ended with a silver lining for the Scotland Women's Under-17s side.
Their single point from the three games - one against each of England, Montenegro and Poland - coupled with a superior goal difference to the Montenegrins ensured Scotland maintain League A status for Round 2 qualifying.
The mini-tournament began against a strong England side, Ava Crawford scoring the only goal in a 3-1 defeat.
Next-up came the pivotal game against Montenegro. This one ended in a 0-0 stalemate, sealing that vital one point that would keep Michael Tuohy's side in League A.
In the final game against hosts Poland, home advantage proved vital, as the young side closed out Round One with a 5-0 defeat.
Over the last year, this Under-17s age group have been becoming accustomed to competing at League A level in qualifying, having narrowly missed out on qualification for this summer’s European Championships following a final day defeat to France.
That result was still enough to ensue they entered this qualifying phase as a League A nation for the fourth consecutive time, with the exposure this provides to the highest levels of the game vital for the development of the players.
The draw for Round 2 will take place on 11 December 2025, with Round 2 of qualifying to be played early in 2026, when the Under-17s will bid for one of the seven available spots at the finals in Northern Ireland next year.
