Scottish FA courses lead to unique experience for an aspiring coach

Thousands of coaches across the globe are continuing their education despite the challenges of COVID-19.

With Scottish FA courses being continually delivered online, one young, aspiring coach received a unique opportunity on the Scottish Football Coaching Podcast.

23-year-old Scott McDonald from Airdrie had the remarkable opportunity to speak to and learn from his namesake - former Celtic and Motherwell star Scott McDonald.

The two men, at very different stages in their career, met for the first time over a video call, dialling in from Australia and Airdrie respectively.

C-Licence holder Scott McDonald revealed his dream of coaching was given a boost after his meeting with the former Australian international.

He said: "I've always looked at examples of coaches and it always seems to be past players, but then examples like Andre Villas-Boas inspire me.

"To then hear Scott McDonald tell me to keep going and not give up is amazing. It's great to hear that from someone who has achieved as much as he has in the game."
