The Borders is gearing up for the first Scottish FA borders Disability Football Festival, run by Scottish Borders Council’s (SBC) Sports Development Unit.
The Scottish Borders Disability Festival is for players with a range of Amubulant disabilities as well as wheelchair users. This event will give the players the opportunity to participate in football related activities with their peers from around the region whatever their capabilities. Adaptive equipment and differentiated coaching techniques are employed to ensure the experience of the players attending is as rewarding as possible.
The festival is open to youngsters aged 9 years to adults and revolves around a series of fun football activities and games, with activities being delivered by Scottish FA qualified coaches.
It is hoped that from this festival, there is enough interest to establish two Scottish FA Football Centres for players with a Disability in Galashiels and Duns.
