Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup Semi-Final
Rangers v Aberdeen
Sunday, 27 April 2025, kick off 2:10pm
Hampden Park, Glasgow
Holders Rangers take on Aberdeen in the weekend's second Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup Semi-Final at Hampden Park.
The match will kick off at 2:10pm and is live on BBC Alba.
Previous Meetings
Rangers have enjoyed two big victories over Aberdeen in the two previous meetings, though the Dons are much-improved under two manager Scott Booth and have won four of their last six matches since the SPWL1 split.
Cup Form
Rangers had lost in the Final of this competition on three occasions but they put that right last season by defeating Hearts to lift the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup.
They have enjoyed a comfortably run to the Semi-Finals, with scoring 31 goals in two big wins over Westdyke and Montrose, although they were made to work against Spartans - eventually prevailing after late strikes from Camille Lafaix and Kirsty Howat.
Aberdeen - who compete in the Semi-Finals at Hampden for the first time - have enjoyed a kind route to the last four, overcoming lower league sides in every round, delivering professional performances.
Gartcairn were up first and two second half goals saw them to a 3-1 win. Hamilton travelled north in the next round and the scores were level until the 78th minute when the floodgates opened and three late goals from Kerry Beattie, Francesca Ogilvie and Eva Thomson saw the match end 3-0.
St Johnstone were the opponents in the Quarter-Finals and they took a shock lead before the Dons recovered to win 4-1 and seal a first ever appearance at the National Stadium.
Pre-Match Thoughts
Rangers' Leah Eddie: “It’s a huge occasion to play at Hampden, whether you’re Scottish or not. It’s a big stadium and everyone’s looking forward to it and we’re just desperate to get to the final.
“Aberdeen are on a good run just now and they’re getting results that they deserve. With it being a cup game and a game at Hampden, both teams are going to be up for it and we just need to focus on the game plan and hopefully we can get to
the final.”
Aberdeen's Hannah Stewart: “If you look at where we were at the start of the season to where we are now, there’s a huge difference in personnel, mindset and the way we play, since Scott Booth came in.
“That’s down to the whole coaching team. They’ve made huge progress with us as a team and I don’t think our recent performances and results are a coincidence. It’s down to how hard we’ve worked off the pitch and on the pitch as a collective. Hopefully we can take that into the semi-finals."
