Sessional worker – Kids in the street
Responsible to KITS Development Worker
Kits is a mobile sports facility which is predominantly based within East Edinburgh and operates within this community, providing diversionary and sports activities to young people who live and play in the community.
General responsibilities
To support the Development Worker to ensure that the mobile sports facility is set up within communities within east Edinburgh at least three days per week
To provide sports activities and coaching to young people
To ensure that all activities are played within fair play rules and that it is inclusive to all young people regardless of age, gender and ability
Duties of the post.
To set up and dismantle the court in line with KITS health and safety policy. Being aware of the individual locations and associated risks.
To have input in keeping session recordings to capture the achievements of each session.
When required drive the vehicle and trailer to pre designated areas.
Build relationships and have an awareness of issues affecting young people in relation to their health welfare and community and encouraging them to make positive lifestyle choices
Challenge inappropriate behaviour and language when necessary . As well as educate young people in issues around anti social behaviour and the affects that this can have both for themselves and within their community, through developing a relationship of mutual respect
Work alongside other organisations to provide sports and recreational opportunities
To provide support and information to encourage young people to become involved in other sporting and leisure opportunities within their community and further afield.

This post has an element of unsociable hours to enable us to be responsive to the needs of the young people within the community
KITS (Kids in the Street) – 4 Hay Avenue – Edinburgh - EH16 4AQ
Attend community days to reach young people and publicise the opportunities available through KITS.
This post subject to being a member of the PVG Scheme, costs or enrolment or update will be met by KITS
Other duties deemed relevant and within the remit of the post as directed by the Development Worker
Location
You will be required to work predominantly within east Edinburgh, although sessions will be arranged from time to time in other location through out the city
Hours of work
The post is 15 hours per week, with hours agreed in advance. Additional hours may also be available in agreement with the post holder.
