Over 150 budding young footballers from all over Central Scotland, descended on Stirling Albion’s Forthbank Stadium to show off their silky skills.

Active Stirling in partnership with the Scottish Football Association hosted the Regional Soccer One and Two Finals at Forthbank on Thursday 27 May from 10.00 am - 2.30 p.m. The event featured both boys and girls teams from Stirling, Falkirk, Clacks, North Lanarkshire and West Dunbartonshire.

The teams were split into 3 groups, Soccer One (1st year boys), Soccer Two (2nd year boys), and Soccer One girls. There was a series of round robin games throughout the day and also an opportunity to take part individual players to take part in a Scottish FA Skills Challenge.

The boys Soccer One and girls Soccer One where both won by teams from Falkirk High School, the winner of boys Soccer Two was won by St Ambrose High School. The winning teams will now compete in the national finals on June 14 at SFA's Hampden HQ at the impressive Toryglen complex.

Graeme Henderson, Football Coach with Active Stirling, said: “Firstly, I would like to congratulate everyone who attended the day at Forthbank for their efforts in reaching the regional finals initially and showcasing their talent in an attempt to reach the national finals. This was an opportunity for children who may not regularly play for a school team or schools that may not have an established school team. The level of skill displayed was extremely impressive and the enthusiasm shown by everyone who took part was fantastic.

I would like to thank all Active Stirling and SFA staff and teachers and helpers from the schools involved in contributing to making the day such a success. Extra special thanks to the two main sponsors without who the event could not have taken place; Bank of Scotland (Soccer One) and Cashback for Communities (Soccer Two).”
