For the past five weeks, over 50 girls have attended Turnbull High School in Bishopbriggs to take part in a 7 a-side games programme as part of the Bank of Scotland Soccer Two programme.
The sessions were hosted on Turnbull High School's new third generation astro turf pitch, making it more appealing for the girls to come along and play in all weathers.
The girls were all involved in the Bank of Scotland One programme either this year or last year, and this programme has now allowed them to put all the coaching they have received into practice.
The girls were all pupils from Turnbull High School, Bishopbriggs Academy, Boclair Academy, Bearsden and Kirkintilloch High.
The existing Bank of Scotland Soccer One programme gives first year pupils at high schools across Scotland the chance to take part in regular coaching sessions and games. Additional funding from CashBack for Communities has now allowed the pupils to continue into second year with Soccer Two, while Soccer Three will kick-off next year.
Soccer Two has created such interest in East Dunbartonshire, that it has led to the creation of a girls section at Rossvale, the only Quality Mark club in the area..
Girls taking part in the programme will be invited along to training nights just after Christmas, before entering the Girl’s Central League in March.
We would like to thank the school staff for their support both in bringing the girls along, and their input at the sessions themselves.
