The purpose of the regional squads is to explore the potential of players who are not registered with senior clubs, within each of the five local authority areas of the South East Region.
The regional squads are delivered in partnership with the Scottish Youth FA and the Scottish Schools' FA.
Weekly sessions take place on Monday evenings (6.00 – 7.30pm) at Broughton High School 3G, Edinburgh.
Experienced Scottish FA staff, David Sheldon (U13s) and Keith Wright (U14s) lead the coaching.
As well as weekly training sessions the players prepared for the national camp by participating in a series of games against the Scottish FA East Region, Dunfermline Athletic FC, and Hibernian FC. They also attended a two-day training camp in July in Edinburgh.
The players also receive additional support on and off the field, including physiotherapy, lifestyle management, nutrition and hydration, injury prevention and mental training for football.
Congratulations to the players from both squads who have already signed for pro youth clubs:
Sam Daniel - Hearts
Aaron Scott - Hearts
Scott Moffat - Hearts
Jonni Turner - Hibs
Connor Bathgate & Adam Corbett are currently trialing with Ipswich Town.
