Livingston FC player Keaghan Jacobs delighted local youngsters by visiting one of the Scottish FA and West Lothian Council's Street Football events in Dedridge, Livingston.

Taking the existing concept of Street Football currently promoted by FIFA throughout the world, the Scottish FA, supported by CashBack for Communities, have established a national series of Street Football events.

Street football uses local Street Sport cages - as well as mobile pitches set up in areas where youngsters may not otherwise have access to supervised games - to provide more flexible, accessible football.

The informal nature of Street Football is designed to appeal to young people aged 10-18. Youn players can drop in at any local event with their friends and play anything from  1v1 to 5v5 games.

Engaging with young people is key and that's where people like Keaghan and West Lothian Football Development Officer Scott Murray (both interviewed in our Street Football video, right) come in.

This year the Scottish FA will have Street Football events at 178 venues across the country, attracting over 15,000 attendees.
