The Bank of Scotland Soccer One League in Angus has had a very successful first year.
Eight secondary schools throughout Angus took part in the league. The last round of fixtures was completed on 16th June 2010, with Carnoustie High School crowned champions.
The team grabbed all three points in a very close final game with a 3-2 win against Arbroath Academy. They then had to wait anxiously for other results to come in.
The only teams who could catch them dropped points in the final games of the season so Carnoustie became the Champions with 13 points from their 6 games, finishing a point ahead of Webster's who had a late surge.
It looked doubtful for Carnoustie at the start of the season after losing to a penalty goal in their opener against Montrose, but they took great heart from a dramatic comeback at Monifieth where they were 4-1 down with 12 minutes left and scored three goals to snatch a vital point.
Then a series of wins, many of them hard-fought against good competitive teams, put Carnoustie in the driving seat.
Well done to the boys for lifting the trophy in this first very successful season of the Angus Bank of Scotland Soccer One League.
The winning team were presented with the trophy by Grenville Dawson, Dundee Schools' FA Secretary. Grenville also helped to organise and run the league.
