Scotland internationals Emily Thomson and Nicola Docherty made a surprise visit to Ravenscraig recently to join the current Under-17 Girls Regional Performance Squad players for their final session of 2012.

Emily and Nicola are both graduates of the Central Region Performance Squad programme.
Regional manager for the Scottish FA's Central region, Andy Gilchrist, said: "It was a fantastic end to another successful year for the Central Region programme and the girls were thrilled to meet both Emily and Nicola.  Both girls are tremendous role models for our current regional squad players and we hope by meeting them that it will inspire them to work hard to try and make the jump to National Team level."
Local girl Nicola Hardie has returned to her old regional squad to assist Lindsay Hamlton with the Goalkeepers within the group.

Andy added: "It's great too that Nicola wanted to get involved and put something back into her former squad and I know, having had experience of the National Youth teams, she is also an inspiring role model to the current goalkeepers within the squad".
The programme now recesses for the winter and will re-start in February 2012.
