This year has marked an exciting chapter for the Scotland Women’s National Team as eight players earned their first senior caps, stepping onto the international stage ahead of next year's FIFA Women's World Cup qualifiers.
We take a look back at the SWNT breakthrough moments in 2025.

Emma Lawton | The Celtic right-back was one of the first players to make her senior debut in 2025. Lawton received her first senior Scotland call-up in February and made her debut as a starter in the UEFA Women’s Nations League fixture away to Austria.
During the February window, the 24-year-old also went on to score her first international goal in a home match against the Netherlands at Hampden Park, embedding her name on the scoresheet early in her international journey and amassing 9 senior caps across the year.

Eilidh Adams | The Hibernian forward also made her senior debut in early 2025 after a successful domestic season at club. Adams came off the bench during Scotland’s Nations League clash with Austria in February.
A prolific goalscorer with Hibernian, Adams’ progression through Scotland’s youth ranks culminated in a well-earned first senior cap for the 21-year-old. The striker went on to feature in the starting XI against the Netherlands and Germany.

Freya Gregory | The former England youth player switched allegiances to Scotland this year and also made her debut in February against Austria.
The 22-year-old midfielder has gone on to earn 7 senior caps since then, starting both games in the last international window against Ukraine and China PR.

Kathleen McGovern | Melissa Andreatta’s first game in charge saw McGovern get her first senior start against Austria at Hampden in May. The forward didn’t take long to get on the scoresheet as her first international goal came just four days later away to the Netherlands.
The striker missed out on the final international window of the year due to injury but bagged two goals in her first four appearances in dark blue.

Mia McAulay | The young Rangers playmaker earned her first senior Scotland cap in May, coming on in the 73rd minute in the UEFA Women’s Nations League fixture against Austria.
After coming through the ranks, the 19-year-old went on to make her first Scotland start in the same window, playing her part in an impressive 1-1 draw in the Netherlands.

Georgia Brown | The Sporting Club Jacksonville defender was called up from the Scotland Women’s Under-23s squad in October for her first inclusion in the senior side and went on to make her debut against Switzerland at KDM Group East End Park in the same window.
Standing at 6ft 2in, the centre-half now has three senior caps and staked her claim in the starting line-up against China PR in the final match of the year.

Miri Taylor | Taylor made her Scotland debut against Ukraine in November. The former England youth international made the switch earlier this year and was called into the squad for the final camp ahead of qualifiers next year.
The Aston Villa midfielder was a starter four days later in Scotland’s 3-2 win against China PR.

Maria McAneny | The Celtic midfielder announced her arrival in the senior side in dramatic fashion, grabbing a stoppage time equaliser against Ukraine in November.
Scotland looked to be heading for defeat before substitute McAneny, who made her bow in the 69th minute, slammed home the equaliser from close range in the 96th minute to rescue a draw.
SWNT return to action in March with a double-header against Luxembourg as they kick-off their bid to reach the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil.
