Scotland Women’s National Team are gearing up to take on Morocco in an international friendly ahead of next year’s FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

It’s the first time the side have been in action since a hard-fought draw away to the Netherlands in the summer.

The game will mark Melissa Andreatta’s third game in charge and comes ahead of a home fixture against Switzerland in Dunfermline next week.

Defender, Georgia Brown has been called up to the senior side for the first time with Sam Kerr and Kirsty Hanson both returning to the squad after missing out due to injury in the last window.

Morocco go into the game after finishing second in the Women’s AFCON earlier this year for the second time in a row.

Led by former Spain manager, Jorge Vilda, the Atlas Lionesses are ranked the third best team in Africa only surpassed by Nigeria and South Africa – ranked 64th in the world FIFA rankings.

Pre-match thoughts

Scotland midfielder, Caroline Weir on the upcoming matches: “Firstly, we want to win. As much as they're friendlies, we want good results this week.

“We need that momentum, that confidence and, alongside that, is obviously good performances. We’re working on how we want to play and how our identity is going to be moving forward with Mel and the new staff.

“But overall, we want to win and it's all preparation for the World Cup qualifiers next year, so that's where our focus is, and the preparation for that starts here.”
