The Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) West region have qualified to play in the Inter Region Cup Finals at both under 15 and under 16 age groups.

The finals take place this Sunday at Toryglen Regional Football Centre in Glasgow.

In recognition of the thier achievement, both teams were given new kit by SYFA team kit sponsors Royal Bank of Scotland.  The players were presented with the new kit by Rangers star John Fleck, and Hibernian ace Alan Gow.

Regional Chairman Peter Glancey thanked both players for giving up their time to visit the players ahead of the finals on Sunday.

Inter Region Cup Format

There are six SYFA regions, which are split into two “conferences”. The West Conference consists of the West, Central and South West regions. The East Conference consists of East, South East and North regions.

Each region competes at Under 15 and 16 age groups.

In the East Conference, North region have qualified at under 15 and East region have qualified at under 16

Players for regional squads are selected from boys clubs within the West region and regional secretary, Jim Smith, said: “It is great for football in the West of Scotland to have two teams in the finals. Each year the West region has won one of these finals and we are looking forward to two great games on Sunday.”
