The Tesco Bank Football Challenge is well and truly up and running in the South Ayrshire area and so far the programme has been a success with great feedback from the children and teachers.
The Tesco Bank Football Challenge is a four year community programme run in partnership with the Scottish Football Association. The programme introduces football to Primary 2 and Primary 3 children (6-8 years old) across Scotland and gets them engaged in a healthy and active lifestyle.
Ayr United Football Academy are delighted to be working in partnership with the Scottish FA and Tesco Bank having been selected to manage the programme in South Ayrshire. The project involves Coaches delivering a six week block of fun filled football working on various skills in local primary schools. The coaches also play an important role in trying to encourage the children to become involved in the game at this young age. So far the feedback from the kids and teachers has been excellent.
AUFA Community Coach Craig Richmond has been coaching in a number of the schools that are taking part in the Tesco Bank project and says:
“The schools that I have been delivering sessions in have been great. The kids are well behaved, very enthusiastic and are keen to participate in the game of football. The Tesco Bank programme is great because I get to coach at local schools and see first hand how well the kids at primary 2 level react to football.”
