Tony Docherty will assist the Scotland national team for the forthcoming international double-header against Canada and Slovenia.
The Aberdeen assistant manager will join Gordon Strachan and Mark McGhee for the international challenge match at Easter Road on Wednesday, 22 March and the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 qualifier at Hampden Park on Sunday, 26 March.
He will replace Andy Watson, who has left to take up a role as technical director at the Al Habsi Football School in Oman, for the next two matches. Tony has extensive coaching experience at Falkirk, Dundee United, St Johnstone, Bristol City and Aberdeen.
Alongside manager Derek McInnes, he has helped take the Dons to second place in the SPFL Premiership. “Tony is well-respected within the game and we look forward to working alongside him for the forthcoming matches,” said Gordon Strachan.
“I would like to thank Derek McInnes and Aberdeen for allowing Tony to come work with the Scotland backroom staff for these next two games.”
