Scot Gemmill has moved quickly to add two fresh faces to his Scotland Under-21 squad for the forthcoming European Under-21 Championship qualification double-header against Andorra and Netherlands.
John Souttar became the latest from Gemmill's group to be fast-tracked to the senior setup - following in the footsteps of the likes of Lewis Morgan, Oli McBurnie and Scott McKenna.
He will be replaced by Hamburg centre-back David Bates - who has adapted well to his new life in Germany after a summer move from Rangers.
With Scott Wright forced to withdraw through injury, his place has gone to his Aberdeen team-mate Frank Ross who - like Bates - is celebrating his first Under-21 call-up.
The Under-19 cap has been rewarded for a string of eye-catching performances on loan at Greenock Morton last term and has worked his way back into the first-team plans of Pittodrie boss Derek McInnes.
Gemmill said: "I'm pleased for John that he's been given an opportunity by Alex McLeish to join the full international squad.
"He's someone who has always shown a great deal of commitment to representing his country in the younger age levels and he has earned his opportunity. I have no doubt he will do himself justice if called upon.
"At Under-21 level one of our 'goals' is to lose players to the senior side and John is the latest to have made that step from this year's group.
"It's disappointing to have lost Scott, but Frank is someone we have had an eye on and who has impressed me with his progression in recent times.
"David is new to the international scene but he showed plenty at Rangers to suggest he will take this in his stride.
"He's been on our radar for some time and our Talent ID team have had great reports on his performances. Initially we were happy to give him the space to settle in to his new life in Germany but he's expressed a real enthusiasm to get involved."
